They have masterfully mixed contemporary with classic by combining a wide range of materials like aged wood, glass, seashells and iron with smart and sophisticated forms. This modern drum table is no exception. Summer Decorating Tips for NYC Terraces
STREETEASY JUNE 3, 2013 AT 6:17 PM INTERIOR DESIGN
http://ownyourhome.streeteasy.com/summer-decorating-tips-for-nyc-terraces/
By Tamara Eaton
With summer just around the corner, we’re all dying to get out to enjoy the good weather. If you have a terrace or back garden, this time of year, however, often involves substantial cleaning and sprucing up of these long forgotten outdoor spaces. Even if you are lucky enough to have some outdoor space, it’s probably a relatively small space (we live in New York, after all!) which can make the planning and design of it a challenge. The key to making the most of your outdoor living space is to find furniture that is flexible, space-conscious, and crowd-pleasing.
Choosing furniture that allows you to be flexible with arrangement and function is one of the most important considerations when planning your outdoor space. One of my favorite products is the Baleares Modular Lounger from Frontgate. This line comes in a set of four individual wicker pieces that can be arranged together or separately. You can either create a more intimate atmosphere with the large daybed or instead create a social sitting area clustered around a small table. With a retractable canopy and cushions that come in five different fabric combinations, the Baleares is a perfect all-in-one outdoor set that makes a big impact in a cohesive way.
Space-saving furniture that can easily be stored away during the off seasons is another bonus feature in outdoor furnishings. For example, Harbour Outdoor’s folding LCA chairs are a fresh take on the classic director’s chair and are easily foldable for quick moving in a party atmosphere. They’re also elegant enough to stand along as dining chairs, or even light armchairs, to keep your backyard sophisticated, not campy. Likewise, when summer comes to an end, the chairs can easily be put in storage without taking up too much of the precious little indoor storage space you have in your apartment.
A dining table paired with a banquette is another way to spruce up your outdoor living by bringing a taste of indoor formal living to the outdoors while at the same time accommodating parties of all sizes. Instead of investing in a myriad of chairs, a dining banquette provides seating for a small gathering or can accommodate a host of children for a birthday party. Also, if built off an existing wall, a banquette can save you much needed space.
Finally, accessories are what will tie the space together and set your backyard apart from the neighbors’. For example, illuminated planters can act as outdoor lighting, adding a soft glow to evening entertaining, while showcasing your garden. They also double as great ice buckets for barbecues and dinner parties when emptied. I like the illuminated planters from Jane Hamley Wells, who has fantastic shapes and colors. Similarly, lanterns are a classic outdoor accessory to complete the mood. My favorite company is Riado whose rope handle detail puts the perfect nautical touch on a polished nickel hurricane lantern.
With these tips in mind, I’m sure preparing your summer urban oasis will prove to be an enjoyable – and easy! – experience.
Mr. Moustache Baby Mobile

Lucky for us, jäll & tofta ships to the US!
Captain Smith Tiles from Grow House Grow
We always love a great tile, which is why we're absolutely crazy about the Captain Smith Tiles from Grow House Grow. Hand crafted with 100% natural materials, the encaustic (cement) tiles are suitable on the floor, on the wall, indoors and out. Since each tile is handmade to order, colors can be customized to suit your space whether it be a kids bath, powder bath, or fun outdoor patio.

Lisa Jarvis Bagua Table
As part of her Plata Collection, interior designer Lisa Jarvis has created the Bagua Table, inspired by the sun glinting off the setting of her diamond ring and ancient Feng Shui rules. Octagonal in shape, the Bagua is a simple yet refreshing take on the side table, available in antique gold or antique silver.
Black Cherry Light Fixture by Nika Zupanc
Product and interior designer Nika Zupanc's darling Black Cherry light fixture from the Gold Edition, 2013 brings feminine sophistication with a touch a quirkiness to any home. Made from hand blown glass and framed with brass, the pair of dangling cherries also come in black, red, and white.
John Reeves Aqueduct Bookcase
Inspired by British and European Roman Aqueducts, John Reeves of Reeves Design has created the Aqueduct Bookcase, using solid brass sheets to delineate four levels of arches of varying sizes. With a removable drawer detailed with brass carrying handles, this bookcase adds storage as well as uniqueness to any room.
Aellon Wright X-Back Chair
Brooklyn-based sustainable furniture company AELLON recently introduced its inaugural collection, The Grace Line, inspired by and built from a 45-year old shipwrecked boat named Grace that the co-founders discovered on a surf trip in Indonesia. One of our favorite pieces from the collection is the Wright X-Back Chair made from sustainable harvested mahogany wood, shown in black.

Pelle Dorit Candle Holders
Beautifully blending raw material with decadent design, Pelle's Dorit Candle Holders juxtapose construction or paint grade lumber with your choice of 24K Gold, 12K White Gold, Gray, or Mustard finishes to create a geometric patchwork design. Our favorites are the gold and white gold gilded holders as they offer a perfect balance between simplicity and luxury.

Rebecca Atwood Crisscross Pillow
Brooklyn-based designer and artist Rebecca Atwood has come out with a whole line of pillows and artwork that are absolutely to die for. Our newest obsession is her handpainted, cotton canvas Crisscoss pillow. Inspired by "the shadows from city scaffolding and fire escapes," the fabric was created by hand painting angled stripes across one another to create varying hues of butterscotch. A thick overlapping strip braces the right side of the pillow and continues diagonally on the reverse side of buttery yellow for a truly unique statement piece.

Ro Sham Beaux Fiona Chandelier
Ro Sham Beaux brings sustainable design to the fore with their use of repurposed materials like upcycled steel and beads, hemp, and organic cotton. We've fallen in love with the Fiona Chandelier whose gold, woven hemp frame is draped with cascading white swirl beads, creating a naturally elegant centerpiece for any room.

New Jersey-based Nest Studio pays great attention to fine details with its incredible line of meticulously crafted hardware that will add character and elegance to any piece of furniture. Pacific Connections Iris Boxes
San Francisco-based Pacific Connections offers a number of beautiful decorative box collections to spruce up your office, bath, or vanity accessories. One of our favorites is the Iris Box with mesmerizing Iris paper inlay created by Iris folding, a paper craft technique that involves folding strips of colored paper in such a way to form an Iris-like design. As each marbleized pattern is handmade, no two pieces are ever the same.
The Alouette Collection by Atelier Areti
London-based Atelier Areti's Alouette Collection blends perfect geometric forms to create a stunningly simple, avian-inspired line of light fixtures. Pictured below is the 'U' Ceiling Lamp with three birds in black powder boated metal. Stock colors also include white and brass for "tail's" interior, and additional color options are available upon request.

The Harper Chandelier from Made Goods
Creating what Made Goods calls a "‘60s Brutalist statement piece," the Harper Chandelier blends masculine, industrial materials with a touch of feminine finesse. Using cut and welded antiqued brass to create a crown of architectural feathers, this chandelier is a great find for homeowners looking for something a little rough around the edges.

Ashley Childers's Emporium Home offers an Eclipse Agate Chandelier that juxtaposes the truly natural with an industrial edge, accenting a ring of natural agate with your choice of satin brass or nickel spikes. Isabel Harvey
Situated on the main shopping street in Wellesley, MA, Isabel Harvey is a colorful curation of home goods, accessories, and jewelry. Isabel Harvey's brightly colored ikat, zig zag, and geometric print bone frames are a great gift idea. Beautiful ceramic bowls and soft fabric bags line the white walls leaving room on the floor for small boxes of scarves, wool holiday ornaments, and scarves. One additional store is open on Nantucket.

Laura chair by Thomas O'Brien
Made by Hickory chair, the Laura chair is a perfect side chair for any room. The soft tufting adds textural detail to the sloped back chair. Because the back of the chair is rounded, it's an excellent choice in a room where you will see the back of the chair. Frequently we run into an issue where we see not only the front, but the back and sides of a chair. The Laura chair is a good looking chair from all sides, making it a great candidate.
