Lee Broom pendants

A glamorous improvement to the hanging bulb, this crystal bulb cover looks beautiful in groups. The copper colored hanging wire is a nice detail thats keeps the industrial quality. They are sold in the UK and made by Lee Broom.

Bec Brittan lighting

The new lighting from Bec Brittan can be found sparkling in the Matter showroom on Broome St. The bronze panels have a retro and glamorous feel.

Matt Gagnon Ceramic Lights

A white cluster of ceramic forms are knotted together to create this custom chandelier by Matt Gagnon. Based in California, Matt sells his work through places like The Future Perfect in New York. My favorite installation can be found at the Ames Hotel in Boston.

Urban Electric Company

Another good one from the Urban Electric Co down south. Gwenwood is a cool wall lamp at 32" high. The connection of the fixture to the shade is unusual, not overdone and just right. For some reason I see this in a fantastic library beside a great old leather reading chair.

Ligne Roset light

Ligne Roset has come out with a nice, simple new pendant with an interesting cord detail. Typically Ligne Roset designs slightly futuristic pieces, but this light fixture could really sit nicely within almost any scheme.

Kiosk Table Lamp

There are so many beautiful table lamps! This is truly a breathtaking piece and the finishes seem beyond the price point. The Kiosk lamp from Design Within Reach is one of the most well thought out lamps I've seen in a while. The modern lines are clean and the materials are crafted nicely. What I like so much about this lamp is it reminds me of the care craftsmen used to take in design such as Noguchi. At $380 this lamp sits 22" high so it could be a night stand lamp or an accent lamp on a credenza.

Diesel lighting

The Fork table lamp is part of a new line for Diesel (clothing!). In tandem with Foscarini this $750 lamp is fabricated from a denim like canvas with seaming. I would love to see it in person and I'm sure it will debut at ICFF if not already at Milan. A floor lamp is also in production. The 'successful living' collection is on the diesel website and includes furniture, textiles and lighting.

Excel Floor Lamp

Rich, Brilliant, Willing crafted this black or white floor lamp. It's pretty big at 84" high but it would make a statement in a soho loft.

Tord Boontje's latest

Artecnica always have fantastically prices things from great international star designers. They've collaborated with Boontje to make these shades. This follows the midsummer night's dream at a similar price, but at $84 the future flora collection is just as self indulgently whimsical. Boontje works well with companies such as artecnica and target to bring fantasy without the wallet commitment.

elegant flutes

Ted Muehling's flute candlestick holders for E.R. Butler are beautiful. The candles appear to float as the glass is so minimal. In three sizes they can be purchased individually or as a set for 3 for about $4,600. E.R. Butler is certainly the Harry Winston of hardware, but they have so many other well crafted and designed things it's worth a trip to the showroom anyway.

Extender lamp

This moderndose.com Dual extender desk lamp reminds me of the libraries photographed by Candida Hofer. It may not be old, but I like the patina quality it already has. Standing 25" tall and $325 it's a generous scale and a decent price

the next new pendant

Tom Dixon is always coming up with sophisticated designs. These beautiful cast glass fixtures won't be coming out until 09/10, but you can find them on Tom Dixon's website and probably in London first.

best design for the dollar- light

This is a more adult lamp in terms on Jonathan Adler's designs, but it's only $350. It comes in two different finishes and the white is just as chic. I like the shade on this as it has some nice slubs in the linen. I even have the table version as bedside lamps.

cluster lamp

Art and light! The images on Michele Varian's website does not do the lamp justice so I found this one. Go into the shop on Crosby Street in Soho and pick one up because this is a truly unique lamp. I would use this on a credenza in a bedroom as softer, ambient light and something nice to look at below the tv. The small is $280 and the large is $480.

pivoting light

Thomas O'Brien for Visual Comfort is clever at designing lamps that have a clear connection to the past without feeling like they were in my grandmother's house. This Academy Pivoting Desk Lamp comes in several finishes and is about $400. Even though it's titled desk lamp, these would be cool, sculptural bedside lamps.
